Commonly referred to as, Alamo City, San Antonio is a unique city with great cultural vibes, located in the south-central part of Texas.  Full of rich history and traditions, San Antonio is home to famous landmarks, popular sports teams, amazing Tex-Mex cuisine, sleek infrastructure, and great weather.  Heavily populated with military bases like, Lackland Airforce Base, Fort Sam Houston, and Randolph Airforce Base; San Antonio is also the stomping grounds for high-end companies such as, H-E-B Supermarkets, USAA, and Cullen/Frost Bankers.  These companies are highly respected in the area, due to the high volume of local residents that are employed by them.  Though not the most-populated city in Texas, it is in fact the second with right around 1.5 million residents.  With the summers being hot, and the winters being mild, residents or travellers can enjoy the countless outdoor activities that San Antonio has to offer, any time of year.

The major industries that thrive in the seventh-largest city in the country include: Healthcare and bioscience, aerospace, information technology and cybersecurity, and new energy economy.  San Antonio prides itself on a healthy and diverse workforce that spans many areas of expertise, while also being one of the nation’s leading cities for lowest unemployment rate at 3.2%.  As previously mentioned, military bases like Lackland Airforce employ around 37,000 local residents, Fort Sam Houston employs 32,000 residents, and Randolph Airforce employs around 11,000 residents.  Companies such as USAA and H-E-B both employ around 20,000 San Antonio residents as well.  Along with these jobs, construction and contractor positions will be in high demand in the near future as a result of the extensive infrastructure plans for the area.  The list of infrastructure projects being put in place this year include: countless condominiums, shopping malls, renovating historic buildings, huge office complexes, sports complex expansions, and luxury senior living apartments.  With the plethora of blueprints designed to improve the city, many construction crews will be specifically needed to complete these tasks.

It’s no surprise that the city awarded the title “fastest growing city in the nation” by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2018, has an abundance of companies relocating to the Alamo City.  Whether it be large, established companies or even start-ups, San Antonio has attracted many new businesses due to its educated and young workforce, low business taxes, business friendly-environment, and affordable corporate housing.  Some of the most prominent businesses that have recently relocated to the area include: University of Texas Health Science Center, Victory Capital, InCube Laboratories, Dura Software, Jungle Disk, and Scaleworks.  Over the years, San Antonio has become one of the tech capitals of the country, and thus created the influx of technology and science services moving their headquarters to the city.  However, the workforce is not the only thing attracting people to the Alamo City, in fact it is also home to some of the best colleges in the country.  Some highly regarded schools in the area include: Trinity University, The University of Texas at San Antonio, St. Mary’s University, and Texas Lutheran University.  Each of these schools offer exceptional programs in healthcare, business, and technology, which is extremely enticing when considering these schools are surrounded by some of the most forefront companies, specifically in those fields.  And while dorming is expensive, students have countless options for furnished apartments in the nearby area that can accommodate all of their needs.

San Antonio’s population is divided into 64% Hispanic or Latino, 25% White, 7% African American, 3% two or more races, and 1% other.  The ideal time to travel to San Antonio is between March and August, when the temperature can reach the high 90s during the day, and in the night drops to a cooler low- 70 degrees.  If mild weather is preferred, September to February is ideal, however the temperature will still be around the mid 60s – low 80s, with it sometimes dropping to the 50s.  Combine that beautiful year-round weather with miniscule rain, and one can see why San Antonio is the perfect destination.  Furthermore, there is fun for the whole family with exciting attractions such as: The River Walk, The Alamo, Japanese Tea Gardens, San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio Zoo, Museum of Art, Natural Bridge Caverns, plus endless restaurants and nightlife options.
